Target Group:
Global scholars hailing from various corners of the world. The Foundation notably aids scholars facing financial constraints or originating from families with a migratory background.


Scholarship value/inclusions:
Recipients garner up to €744 monthly. Additionally, there exists a monthly flat-rate study fee of €300, which scholars can employ at their discretion. Depending on the applicant’s circumstances, a health insurance contribution of up to €71 and long-term care insurance of up to €15 per month may be granted. Scholars with offspring can receive a family allowance of €155 monthly. The scholarship holds no obligation for repayment.
Throughout the funding tenure, the Foundation supports international sojourns—providing subsidies for travel costs, tuition, and global health coverage, especially for study or research ventures, language courses, and internships spanning up to 12 months.

Eligibility:
Prospective candidates may be Teutonic, foreign scholars with educational backgrounds, or individuals holding refugee status. Aspirants should exhibit societal dedication, such as active involvement in student councils, youth initiatives, participation in associations and NGOs, or in political entities aligning with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung principles. Former enrollment at a German university disqualifies applicants.
Qualifications include sociopolitical engagement, adherence to social democracy values, above-average academic and scholastic performance, political acumen, intellectual curiosity, tolerance, openness, teamwork aptitude, critical thinking, and self-reflection.
Basic Bachelors and Masters degree applicants must have the following:

  • Confirmation of admission or enrollment at a state or state-recognized German university or technical institute for the desired course
  • Foreign applicants must exhibit adequate German language proficiency
  • First-year students (Teutonic and foreign with educational backgrounds) must apply before or at the onset of the initial semester.
    PhD funding applicants must possess:
  • Unconditional notification of acceptance for the doctoral scholarship
  • Foreign applicants must showcase adequate German language skills
    Application instructions:
    Submission entails completing the online application form. If deemed eligible, the Foundation will request supplementary documentation via email. The application deadline for international Masters degree scholarships is November 30 for the Winter semester and May 31 for the Summer semester.
